Jiuxian Village

A ancient little town

Nestled deep in the beautiful Yulong River Valley, built against a mountain side, Jiuxian is an ancient little town where rich landlords and government officials of former dynasties had their mansions. As the walls of these mansions were made of stone, much of the old architecture has survived remarkably well, and most buildings are in their original state.

In the village you’ll find alley-ways with cobbled stones, beautifully carved wooden window and door frames, an ancestral temple with detailed woodcarving over the entrance, villagers who look almost as old as the buildings they live in. Just outside the village is Xiangui Bridge, an arched and very old (AD 1123) stone bridge.
